Fiesta Best Bets - Thursday, April 23: Top bands strut their stuff; Taste of the Northside celebrates Fiesta flavors

If you love high school halftime shows, the Battle of Flowers Band Festival is a must-see Fiesta event.

If you love high school halftime shows, then this is a must-see Fiesta event. Bring the kids and inspire them to join the band. The routines are marvelously inventive and the level of commitment from these students is astounding. Go and applaud these talented kids!

Food and drinks are available, and the seating is comfortable, but bring a hat and sunscreen, at least for the first part of the evening.

Taste of the Northside

The Rock at La Canera

6 - 10:30 p.m. 

Taste of the Northside gives attendees a chance to savor incredible foods and drinks while benefitting children with disabilities through the Brighton Center. More than two dozen San Antonio restaurants are on hand! But beware, this event requires a ticket! You can buy them here.

Navy Day at the Alamo: Alamo Plaza, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

PACfest: Palo Alto College, 1400 W. Villaret Blvd., noon - 11:30 p.m.

10th Street River Festival: VFW Post 76, 4 p.m. - midnight

A Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA): La Villita, 418 Villita St., 5:30 - 10:30 p.m.

Fiesta Cornyation: Charline McCombs Empire Theatre, 224 E. Houston St., two showtimes at 7 and 10 p.m.

Fiesta Carnival: Alamodome Parking Lot C, 100 Montana St., 5 p.m. - midnight
