Gilbert Gomez is a veteran, award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience across Texas. He is the 4 and 5 p.m. news producer for KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas.

He also creates digital and social content for the station's online platforms.

Born and raised in Laredo, Gilbert has been a proud member of the KENS 5 news team for 10 years. His career also includes previous stops at KSAT, KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley, and KGNS.

Gilbert is especially proud of his diverse television producing experience, which includes multiple remote broadcasts such as large live parades in both English and Spanish, as well as professional sports coverage. He is also a former news photojournalist and is fluent in Spanish.

Before transitioning fully into journalism, Gilbert was a full-time professional musician with an extensive live performance background spanning mariachi, symphonic, jazz, and pop music.

Gilbert loves sharing and hearing people's stories and welcomes community connection.
