CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A Western New York woman marked a major life milestone this week.
Marcella Herkey celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday, surrounded by a large gathering of family and loved ones.
The celebration in Cheektowaga brought together multiple generations to honor Herkey's century of life. Family members filled the room. Herkey said she was grateful to be surrounded by loved ones as she reached 100.
Herkey raised one son, and her extended family now includes great-great-grandchildren, two of whom were present at the celebration.
Of course, she was asked about she had any secrets to a long life.
"Having faith, I have to have a lot of faith. I have Christ in me. I'm a Christian and my family is all a Christian, and that means a lot to us," she said.
